The Challenge
Customs agents in Bulgaria were still filling export, import, and transit declarations by hand, moving between paper, spreadsheets, and outdated tools. Each shipment meant retyping the same facts and checking commodity codes manually, while the rules and rates changed underneath them. A filing that should take minutes stretched into hours. Small inconsistencies turned into delays, extra checks, and sanctions, because authorities already use automated controls to catch mismatches. Agents spent the day on paperwork instead of on the shipments that needed a decision.
The Solution
Automated Declaration Drafting
Built a Python service that reads the shipment documents, identifies each file, and prepares the customs declaration for review. Export, import, and transit run through the same assistant, in step with Alpha Agent, so the new workflow replaces the old one.
Live Tariff Retrieval
Paired a private search index with language models so agents can ask for a commodity code in plain language and get an answer from current Bulgarian and English customs data. Codes, code lists, and exchange rates refresh on a schedule instead of waiting on a manual update.
Client Portal for Every Filing
Delivered a React portal where the team manages documents, declaration status, and billing in one place. Onboarding uses the client’s own files — more than ten real cases — then tunes generation over seven days before the portal goes live, with support available around the clock.
